Established in early 2002 by Jack Hampson and David Furness, Speedwell initially served the Glossop area of the High Peak in Derbyshire. By October of the same year, the company had won major contracts from Derbyshire County Council and spread their network far beyond Glossopdale.
Nowadays the company has an extensive route network serving much of the High Peak and eastern Greater Manchester. The company has been at the forefront of the introduction of fully-accessible low floor buses into the areas which it serves, and has invested heavily in these developments to produce a remarkably low fleet-age profile.
Speedwell are keen to build on this success, and over the next few years have some exciting plans to expand the company. Growing by over 50% and offering more state-of-the-art low floor buses than ever before means that Speedwell will cement its' position as one of the area's best and most-respected travel companies.
