SpeedwellValue is our new low-cost operation. The launch route S50 runs between Hey Farm, Mossley and Ashton in Greater Manchester, and we are hoping to extend the concept to other routes in the future. All journeys cost a flat fare of £1.00 for adults, 50 pence for kids and OAPs travelling before 0930 Monday to Friday. We also have a separate low cost weekly ticket range which is valid only on SpeedwellValue services.

The vision behind SpeedwellValue is to operate buses with the lowest possible cost-base, and then pass the savings on to our customers via fares which are typically less than half the price of those of other bus operators. We are often asked why we don’t offer these super-low fares on our other Speedwell routes. Well, we do try to keep our regular fares as low as we can, but the SpeedwellValue concept can only work where we have very high passenger loadings. We need lots of £1’s to be able to have such a low fare. So unfortunately this is something which simply would not work on our more rural routes.
